Movies: The Jungle Book (PG) & The Huntsman: Winter’s War (12A)

The Jungle Book (PG) – what’s it about? Based on the children’s story, Mowgli is a boy raised in the jungle by wolves, after a threat by Shere Khan he sets out to travel to the man village.

This being a PG is probably about right, I can imagine that smaller children may find this scary in parts, but in general the story is good and keeps in well with the books. It has some great fun moments and some giggles, it’s not all singing which is good but it has a couple of songs in it. Yeah I actually liked it quite a bit; I’m not sure how much the small ones will though, but it’s worth going to see just for some family enjoyment.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War – what’s it about? Eric is a Huntsman of the Ice Queen army and falls in love, which is forbidden, after his love is killed he turns against the evil queen.

Though this is a bit of a love story, it has enough other parts to the story to not be like omg *barf*. It has some really funny bits in it, the Dwarfs are pretty comical, but it also has some good action and story to go along with it. If you like the unknown stories they’ve been doing with fairy-tales then this is worth a look.
