Movies: Eddie The Eagle (PG) & The Last Survivor (DVD – 15)

Eddie The Eagle (PG) – what’s it about? Based on the true story of Eddie the Eagle and how he fulfilled his life’s dream of becoming an Olympian.

Another movie based on a true story, usually with these I’m like meh they are pretty sucky, but this was actually quite enjoyable. It had some good humour and general moments in it, where you think this is pretty good, spot on acting, writing and general all-round goodness. I don’t think it’ll be everyone’s cup of tea, especially those who want something factual; apparently it’s more a loosely based story on the events, but it makes for a fun movie.

The Last Survivor (DVD – 15) – what’s it about? The survival story of a girl and her boyfriend in a world where there’s no rain and everywhere has turned to desert.

This is one of those movies that when you stop and think about it it’s quite scary; in the fact that there is the possibility this could be a reality if people don’t change. As a movie it had promise to be really good but sadly it was a little lacking, it was a little slow and you didn’t get much in the way of story. I was hoping for the characters to be developed a little more than they were to give it some oomph so you could get some emotion but sadly that didn’t seem happen too much. Don’t get me wrong it was an interesting movie but it was just slow and uneventful…though towards the end did give you something…making this one Ok but nothing special.
