Movies: Minions (U) & Practical Magic (DVD – 12)

Minions (U) – what’s it about? Before the Minions met Gru they spent centuries trying to find a master to follow, FFWD to the 1960s and their quest continues to find the ultimate villain.

After watching this I’ve realised I’m actually a real life Minion! This movie is funny and colourful and light-hearted, if you loved the Minions in Despicable Me then you’ll probably love this as it’s the same humour etc. I was expecting a little more from it though as it wasn’t as funny as I hoped for but it’s still very much enjoyable and definitely worth seeing.

Practical Magic (DVD – 12) – what’s it about? Two girls go and live with their two aunts, as they grow they discover their magical powers and try live with the families curse.

This is basically a big chick flick…I’m not a fan of girlie movies but I do love this one, even though it’s a love story it still has enough other story to make it entertaining. Worth a watch if you would like a little bit of love and magic in your life.

Movies: Jurassic World (12A), Priest (DVD – 12A), Déjà vu (DVD – 12A) & I Am Legend (DVD – 15)

Jurassic World (12A) – what’s it about? The parks scientists have created a new dinosaur which escapes and all hell breaks loose…

I used to love Jurassic Park as a teenager so it was good to see another high budget movie with dino destruction. This one doesn’t disappoint, it has a bit of plot, link backs to the previous movies, action and it’s actually a little scary for youngsters I’d think. This is one is pretty awesome J

Priest (DVD – 12A) – what’s it about? Vampires and humans have been at war – the war has ended or has it?

A post apocalyptic world field with freaky ass vampires and really religious humans, sounds interesting right? There’s no Twilight lovey-doveyness in this one, the vampires are more monster than vampire. It’s got an interesting plot, the universe is pretty cool, action and general killing but I don’t know it just lacked a little in parts…but it’s still bloody good!

Déjà vu (DVD – 12A) – what’s it about? After a terrorist attack an ATF agent investigates but not through normal means.

My sister recommended this one to me as I hadn’t seen it and I watched it with not knowing much about it, apart from a cop investigates a terror plot...I definitely wasn’t expecting time travel! This has a really interesting plot and ideas behind it, very cool indeed, its quite gripping with the investigation side (I can’t say much without spoiling it so I won’t). This is worth a watch if you like crime stuff but also time-travel stuff.

I Am Legend (DVD – 15) – what’s it about? Humanity is all but destroyed by a cure that goes wrong and turns humanity into Darkseekers (a kind of monster-vampire), can a doctor survive and find a cure…

This is a bloody good movie – even if it’s just for the most part about one man and his dog. It’s well written, the story is great (especially if your into vampires/zombies and post-apocalyptic worlds), it’s a really emotional journey of survival. It’s definitely worth watching!!!

Fandom: Legacy of Kain/Nosgoth T-Shirts

I got bored so I created some Legacy of Kain/Nosgoth related t-shirts, they were made just for the fun of it.

All t-shirts were hand-dyed, the letters were painted using stencils, and the symbols were all painted free hand.

I hope you like…

Movies: Insidious Chapter 3 (15), Spy (15) & Hellboy II: The Golden Army (DVD – 12A)

Insidious Chapter 3 (15) – what’s it about? A prequel which explains a little more about the ghosts and hauntings from the earlier movies, it’s about a girl who is targeted by a negative entity.

If you’ve seen the previous movies and liked their spookiness and scares then this one will not disappoint. It’s filled with just enough spookiness to give you goose bumps and set your mind on overdrive but it’s not so scary that you can’t sleep at night. Definitely worth a watch if you like horror!

Spy (15) – what’s it about? Susan is a CIA analyst ends up going undercover to stop a biological disaster.

This is a comedy, a spoof but sadly it isn’t really that funny, it tries hard, is loud and obnoxious, it had a few bits that made me heh but not enough to make me lol. I mainly went to see this as it had Jason Statham in it…and it was one of his worst movies. It was alright to pass the time but that’s about it.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (DVD – 12A) – what’s it about? Hellboy and the gang return, this time to stop an elven Prince and his rebellion from destroying humanity.

This is up there as one of my favourite films; I love it and all the creatures from this universe. This one is filled with action, story and humour, if you love the comic universe you’ll love this, watch or re-watch it as its so worth it. I’ve just been so disappointed there hasn’t been another movie since.

Movies: San Andreas (12A), Poltergeist (15), Man Up (15) & Paul (DVD – 15)

San Andreas (12A) – what’s it about? Massive earthquakes rock California; can a father save his family from the destruction…

This is a big budget disaster movie, of course most of it has been done before with its destruction and panic and life saving and so on…but we haven’t had a good disaster movie in a while so it was refreshing to see. That said as I travel to California in under a month I’m now petrified about earthquakes thank you movie a thumbs up to you! It’s definitely worth a watch if you like the whole disaster movie genre.

Poltergeist (15) – what’s it about? A remake…a family move into a new house and end up being haunted by a mass of ghosts.

A friend said to me don’t see this as it’s shit but I went anyway and by far its not the worst movie I’ve seen. It was interesting and entertaining but being a remake it has been done before, of course though it had some modernisation changes to fit with the times. I’d say it wasn’t really scary, I didn’t freak out or end up petrified but it was still a good spooky watch.

Man Up (15) – what’s it about? A young woman accidently ends up meeting a blind date that isn’t hers and she goes along with the lie.

Ok a British rom-com…possibly my most hated genre (well that and those teen dance movies) but its Simon Pegg and I like his stuff so hey I thought I’d give it a bash. I was pleasantly surprised by this one, I was laughing so hard but it seemed other people didn’t find it as funny; yep I was that annoying person in the cinema. It is worth a look, especially if you like Simon Pegg movies or rom-coms.

Paul (DVD – 15) – what’s it about? Two geek friends travel to America and visit sites relating to UFOs and get more than they expect when they meet and extraterrestrial on the run.

Yep another Simon Pegg movie it seemed to be a weekend for his movies for me. It’s a great comedy with lots of geekness, stupidity and larking about. If you like Pegg’s other movies and/or if you’re a geek then you’ll no doubt be highly amused by it so definitely watch it/re-watch it.
